Adam is delighted to announce an upcoming collaboration with artist Sally Coulden of Red Dog Glass Design.

Sally Coulden is an established artist with roots close to the Norfolk coast. Her work is informed by her rural childhood and her extensive travels around the world, including living in Australia for several years. After art school, a wide and varied working life and completing an MBA, Sally founded Red Dog Glass Design, which takes her contemporary art designs and applies them to glass to create a range of bespoke art glass products for residential and commercial spaces.

Sally has been a successful artist for many years, and her art glass collaborations are a relatively recent innovation. Glass has been used successfully in kitchen design for some years, and is favoured as an easy-care, hygienic option for splashbacks. Now it's possible to combine this ease of use with a piece of contemporary art that moves and inspires.

Sally's designs are sized to the bespoke dimensions required by the project, and manufactured using premium 6mm toughened low iron glass, which is heat-resistant to 220 degrees Celsius and guaranteed for 10 years. This meets the most stringent requirements of the kitchen industry, including glass that's suitable for placement behind a hob.

As a keen cook himself, Adam has long believed that kitchens are about much more than storage and cooking. Today's kitchens are the living heart of the home, and many of us spend time working, socialising and experimenting in the kitchen, as well as dining. We also know from experience that many clients have strong feelings about colour, and the way it makes them feel.

Because colour in the home has such an impact, enhances wellbeing and says something about our lifestyle and personality, Sally's designs are grouped into three moods:

  • energy

  • calm

  • monochrome

The design below is from the 'calm' collection, and is true to its name with soft brush strokes and a harmonious palette of colours.

In addition to the collection of current designs, Sally can be commissioned to create a new work of art for your project, which will then be manufactured and installed as a kitchen splashback, shower panel, or as a statement piece of art glass for a range of residential or commercial settings.

Adam and Sally are collaborating on bespoke splashbacks for a customer whose kitchen is due to be fitted in early 2023. Our client loves art, and wants something special in her new kitchen. Sally says, "This is exactly what Red Dog is about, bringing art into living spaces." Watch this space for more details of this exciting project!
